CAN THIS PLANET BE SAVED?

Here's how

Be a citizen instead of a consumer of the planet

(See the Story of Stuff by Annie Leonard. It's in the Redding library)

    • Keep track of your carbon dioxide emissions and make sure they are less than two tons per person. See www.vtearthinstitute.org/resources/index.php?z=carbonquiz\

    • Hints
      • Use only the energy of the sun and wind with photovoltaics or wind turbines on your roof.
      • Buy locally grown fresh food and products to reduce transportation costs.
      • Vacation locally, chose local entertainment, stay home, ride bicycles and horses.
    • Take the ecological footprint test to make sure yours is equal or less than one planet's worth.

See www.ecologicalfootprint.org

    • Be a zero waste person. Buy only what can be recycled so you won't create any waste.
    • Limit family size to one child for 50 years and the population will stabilize to a sustainable level.
  • See www.mnforsustain.org/pop_population__ecological_footprint.htm

  • This is our last chance to save our planet from ourselves and show our descendants that we humans can use our intelligence to survive in spite of ourselves.
